John comes from a family deeply rooted in the bloodstock industry, with three generations— his grandfather, father, and John himself—having trained racehorses. During his own training career, John began purchasing young stock to sell at major sales, a venture that quickly proved successful. This success led to the decision to acquire West Shaw Farm, with a dedicated focus on breeding, sourcing quality thoroughbreds, and caring for both permanent and seasonal boarders. Today, John plays a vital role in the business, particularly in the acquisition of new stock—both for West Shaw Farm and on behalf of clients seeking top-tier bloodstock

Kirsty, a farmer’s daughter by background, grew up immersed in the world of thoroughbreds. Her early exposure to the racing industry—through her parents’ involvement with horses in training with the late Dick Peacock and Dennis Smith—sparked a lifelong passion. She began her own career at a local stud farm, gaining hands-on experience that laid the foundation for her future in the industry. Kirsty has been a constant support throughout John’s training career and continues to play a vital role in the daily operations at West Shaw Farm. She brings a wealth of practical knowledge, particularly excelling in the veterinary care and wellbeing of the horses entrusted to their care.

Imogen was born into the industry and now shares her time between West Shaw Farm and working alongside leading trainer Karl Burke. Her dual experience has given her a strong foundation in both the training and purchasing sides of the business. Attending all major sales with her father, Imogen is a key member of West Shaw Farm’s buying team, helping to identify and secure high-quality bloodstock. Beyond the sales ring, Imogen plays a vital role in the daily running of the farm. She manages our social media presence, oversees office operations, and ensures all registration deadlines and administrative requirements are met with precision.
